Game summary

Last Words about the game

The first idea I had crazy enough was a RTS university game,I thought it would of been a fun game, but after thinking about it and doing some research I found out that the game idea wasn’t very original and also that it would be another typical RTS but after playing this Wii balance game I thought that this game would be even more entertaining, wouldn’t say it so original but I think the idea of it is fun but in a way the originality would be my way of interpreting the game and what it will be and look like because this is my idea.

Well initially the first idea of the game was from playing some game on the Wii balance and from there the idea grew, the idea I thought it was really entertaining and original even though it was from a Wii console, trying to incorporate that in to other consoles wouldn’t be as fun as the Wii version because of the Wii motion controller,

My main target of the game is to get the player to feel like that it is a serious sport game rather than a fun race game.

I guess the back story would be that the sport Bowl Ski had became very popular in this world, the outdoor sports required you to ride massive bowl like canoes down a fast passed river rapid, the game mechanic would be like any typical racing game, you wait for the green light, you start racing trying to keep your position first, then you go passed the finish line and hopefully win.

I like the idea of the game play mechanic that allows you to use an attack move that slows down your opponent, I thought this would make the game a bit more strategically and exciting, rather than just trying your best to race.

The theme of my game changed a bit due to things not working out very well with 3ds max to unity 3d engine but never the less it turn out like planned the game looks like what I wanted it to look like and I think its theme stands out / wild west all I’m missing is some tumbleweed

Something I wasn’t sure on adding like speed boosts and little power-ups and ECT... I didn’t want the feel to be cartoonish I wanted it to feel like if it was a really life sport that any person would play, though I very much like the idea.

Mainly my targeted audience would be I guess 8+ so it would be fun for kids as well as adults and all good for the family because it also multi player split screen to play

Things I’m not so happy with is that I wish I had more time to build some more levels, even though I wasted allot of time building just one level I did put my heart into it because I know it will be a fun game for everyone to play and enjoy, maybe it could even be a family favorite that what most game designers aim for.

This game was done by me.

Hope you like it.

More in depth player interaction

after thinking for what controls to be for the player I've came up with the following

for the xbox360 controller the toggles will be the main two interaction functions, the right toggle will allow you to accelerate and paddle like your would trying to simulate the actions of paddling, the left toggle will allow you to rotate your camera angel. (Third-person shooter)

(A), (X), (Y) and (B) buttons will be pretty useless in game but (Y) will allow for you to change the cameras height from the player for example far, close, very-close and maybe first-person shoot view, for the left and right trigger i though it would be a good idea to to make and attacking button, for example if you and this NPC or multi-player opponent was battling it down a straight line to the finish, you will be able to use the paddle attack maneuver,

say the opponent is to the left hand side of you as your are racing to the finish, you just pull left trigger to make your character pop out his paddle and whack the opponent, this will cause you a bit of speed loss, but if the targeted opponent was hit it well make them loss a greater amount of speed. vice Versa for the right trigger, that pretty much sums it up for the main controls, the D Pad will be the same function as the camera rotate toggle, and the start button will take you to in game menu options and for back button will pause the game.

Heres a GUI map I'd like the controller functions to be. and of course the player will be able to change around any control button setup they like in the game menu. Picture is default settings.

Xbox360:

WiiMote Controls

i though of a good idea for the wiimote is to simulating the the motion of real paddling

heres my picture i made best describing the motion of paddling.

I'm still here

OK all I've done is rebuild my hole model terrain in unity terrain editor, my hole theme idea has changed since then, but non the less the games idea is still the same. after modeling the terrain out i used my old water plane i made in 3ds and imported it into unity, and whacked on a water material and script, thus how i got the bend in the water surface, after that i started to model some props in 3ds first i made a cactus, then 3 different dead tree figures, some rocks and a nice little old rickety bridge. after placing them where i was happy with i decided to add an ambient wind sound, i grabbed the first one i could find, i very quickly edited it in sound both and thus how i got the crappiest sound that you could call wind, and last of all i made a few particle dust-storms systems, i think it adds the feeling that it is actually windy... and there that's about all I've done in the past couple of days.

Cutting it fine.

I've look for backups but no luck, so i re-traced my level in 3ds and re making it now. modeling it wasn't the hard part, it was texture so now i am going to have to re-texture it, Oh yer as u can see my model is a bit different to the original, I've decided to go for even more cliffer feel to it. hope you like it because I'm sticking with it!

p.s I'm getting used to making backups now.
